With all of the rain we have had over the last few weeks, it’s been really hard to get outside and do a photo shoot. Solution? Do an in-studio shoot instead. The issue with in studio opposed to on location is coming up with creative ideas. While doing a replica of an old hollywood shoot isn’t exactly fresh or new, it is to us.
Jesse (Jesse James Photography) and I decided to put our ideas together and see what we could come up with. Even though there’s a “traditional” style makeup in these photos and it doesn’t give me a lot of room to play I had a blast doing it. I have never done make for an all black and white photo shoot before. The process is a little different because the camera picks up certain colours differently when it is black and white. For example: warm colours appear darker then usual, cool colours appear lighter, and red appears grey, so splotchy skin will still look uneven. I had the challenge of creating a perfect canvas, highlighted and contoured in the right places with the perfect amount of product.
The whole concept of the shoot turned out to be a little different than I had imagined, but the photos still turned out great.
